- The Chamber of Commerce in Anadarko, Oklahoma wrote to Ms. Hazel Elbert, Special Assistant to Senator Dewey Bartlett, requesting information on the amount of money spent on Indian Health, the number of Indians served, the breakdown of spending in Oklahoma, and suggestions for improving Indian health care. They expressed concern about the lack of adequate health care for Indians and requested assistance and cooperation in addressing the issue. When they did not receive a response, they sent a follow-up letter on March 19, 1974.
