- Description:
- Warren Buzzard wrote to Senator Bartlett seeking clarification on the policy of the Indian Health Service regarding his adopted daughter's eligibility for medical services. Senator Bartlett forwarded the letter to Calvin Beames for assistance in resolving the issue. Buzzard explained that his adopted daughter, who is of Cherokee descent, had been denied medical services by the Indian Health Service because she married a white man and could not prove her Indian blood. He believed that as an adopted child, she should have the same rights as any other Indian.
