- Description:
- The Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare responds to a letter regarding the Choctaw Nation Advisory Council's desire to participate in selecting Indian Health Service Unit Directors. The Secretary states that there is currently no vacancy at the Talihina Service Unit, but future vacancies will involve consultation with tribal parties. The Secretary has requested a report on the appointment process and consultation with tribal parties, which will be shared with the Senator. The Secretary appreciates the Senator's interest in promoting effective relations between the Indian Health Service and tribal governments.
