- Description:
- Mrs. Dora Peters wrote a letter to Senator Dewey Bartlett expressing concerns about out-of-state tuition fees not being covered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for Native American students. Senator Bartlett requested a report from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, which stated that tuition costs are based on public-supported comparison costs and that students attending private or out-of-state institutions must cover the difference in cost. The Bureau provided regulations and proposed revisions for Mrs. Peters to review and provide feedback on. Senator Bartlett was urged to push for more funds to be allocated to the B.I.A. for higher education purposes.
