- Description:
- The document from Ms. Betty J. Brown to Senator Dewey F. Bartlett discusses the need for a compilation by the Muskogee Area Office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs listing all persons in the Five Civilized Tribes who were reinstated to the Dawes Commission Rolls. This would allow these individuals and their descendants to have voting rights without having to provide extensive documentation to Election Committees. Senator Bartlett requests the views and opinions of Mr. Thomas J. Ellison on this suggestion. Additionally, there is a letter from Eric H. Bohannon, Chairman of the Choctaw Election Committee, informing Ms. Brown that she will not be able to vote in the current election but will be included in the absentee mailing list for a potential run-off election.
