- Description:
- The Osage Tribal Council sent a resolution to the Speaker of the House of Representatives supporting the creation of a new post of Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs in the Department of the Interior, as proposed in Senate bill S. 291. They requested support for Sections 1 and 3 of the bill but opposed Sections 2, 4, and 5 which would abolish the office of the Commissioner of Indian Affairs and the offices of the Assistant and Deputy Commissioners. The resolution was approved by the council with a vote of six in favor and none opposed.
