- Description:
- The Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes in Oklahoma sent letters to various government officials regarding the eligibility of Indian applicants for Section 235 housing loans. The documents requested that the requirement of having less than $2,000 in assets be waived for the Five Civilized Tribes. The Department of Housing and Urban Development provided a response stating that the value of "restricted land" owned by individuals of an Indian tribe would not be considered an asset for eligibility under Section 235. The Council expressed gratitude for the consideration and hoped that the decision would benefit Indian applicants.
