- Description:
- The Department of the Interior's Bureau of Indian Affairs is implementing a new policy requiring the rotation of managers and administrators every two to five years in order to better serve the needs of Indian people, improve Bureau programs, and provide opportunities for employee development. The policy aims to address issues with employees remaining in positions too long and difficulty in reassigning employees. The policy also includes changes in job descriptions for Field Administrators to emphasize the trust responsibility and shift away from paternalistic language. The Bureau is also making changes in delegation of authority to place control at the local level and transform the Bureau into a service organization.
