- Description:
- Horace D. Payne, a U.S. Probate Attorney from Durant, Oklahoma, wrote a letter to Honorable Carl Albert thanking him for his help in getting a case disposed of. The Department of Justice had declined to prosecute Payne, and Albert's assistance was greatly appreciated. Payne also requested Albert to check with Zimmerman to see if they had received clearance from the Department of Justice. Payne expressed deep appreciation to Albert for his help during a recent difficulty with the Indian Office, and asked for further assistance in checking on the clearance from the Department of Justice.
