- Description:
- Mr. Landis inquired about the payments to Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians for their coal and asphalt lands sold to the government. The Indian office advised that living enrolled members will be paid first, with checks being mailed out by the Five Civilized Tribes Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma. After living members are paid, proof of heirship notices will be sent to heirs of deceased members to determine legal heirs and amounts to be received. Mr. Albert, a congressman from Oklahoma, provided this information to Mr. Landis and offered further assistance if needed.
