- Description:
- Mr. Carnes received a letter from Congressman Carl Albert regarding the money appropriated by Congress for members of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes for the sale of their coal lands. The Indian Office plans to handle heirship claims and living members will be paid first. There should be no need for members to spend money on their claims. Mr. Carnes expressed concerns about proving heirship in death claims and the need for lawyers, but Congressman Albert assured him that the process would be taken care of by the Indian Office.
