- Description:
- Mr. Allen Wright, an attorney at law, wrote to Congressman Carl Albert regarding the appropriation of money by Congress for the payment to the members of the Choctaws and Chickasaws for the sale of their segregated coal and asphalt lands to the government. Wright expressed concern about a news article stating that the government planned to sell part of the deposits to a company in Texas before paying the tribes. He urged for the immediate payment to the tribes and emphasized the importance of Congress being just with its own citizens. Congressman Albert responded, assuring Wright that he was confident Congress would appropriate the necessary funds and the tribes would receive their payments.
