- Description:
- Mr. Bentley Beams of Talihina, Oklahoma expressed interest in a work program for Indian children to be established in their community instead of sending them to other states for employment. The Bureau of Indian Affairs is working on providing employment opportunities at four locations for Indian youth and aims to recruit interested students for these jobs. The program will be voluntary, with financial assistance provided for transportation and subsistence. The Bureau plans to publicize job opportunities for Indian youth in their local areas. Congressman Carl Albert acknowledged Mr. Beams' request and is awaiting further information from the Bureau of Indian Affairs to respond.
