Description:

H.V. Chadwick, a DIH Executive Officer, spoke at a meeting in Oklahoma in 1967, expressing gratitude for the cooperation of the Creek Tribe in improving the health program for Native Americans. He highlighted recent changes and improvements in the Oklahoma Area Indian Health operation, including new leadership appointments, policy changes, and training programs for dental assistants. Chadwick also cited statistics showing significant improvements in health outcomes for Native Americans over the past decade, largely attributed to legislation providing water and waste disposal facilities. The Public Health Service has been working with various agencies and tribal groups to improve housing for Indian communities as well.
