- Description:
- Public Law 86-192, enacted on August 25, 1959, supplements the Act of April 26, 1906, to provide for the final disposition of the affairs of the Choctaw Tribe. It authorizes the sale of tribal lands, interests, and improvements, with proceeds deposited to the tribe's credit. It also allows for the conveyance of mineral rights and the transfer of lands acquired for tribal use. The Act ensures that individual Indian rights are not deprived and grants certain rights to enrolled members of the Choctaw Tribe. The Secretary of the Interior is authorized to execute necessary instruments to carry out the provisions of the Act.
