- Description:
- President Johnson has signed a bill into law that extends the Choctaw Termination Act of 1959 for three additional years. This act allows the Choctaw Tribe to transfer their land interests to a tribal entity, but legal problems have delayed the process. The extension will give the tribe until August 25, 1968 to resolve these issues and transfer their interests. Congressman Carl Albert is the sponsor of the legislation and expects it to be enacted without difficulties.
