- Description:
- Miss Eva Mae Childers from Long Beach, California, wrote to Congressman Carl Albert inquiring about the Indian medical program in Oklahoma. In response, Charles L. Ward, on behalf of Congressman Albert, acknowledged her letter and stated that her questions are being addressed with the Muskogee, Oklahoma Indian office. A copy of Childers' letter was also forwarded to the Area Director in Muskogee for assistance. Childers, who is half-Indian, sought help with medical expenses incurred due to an operation in 1958, hoping to benefit from the free hospitalization available to Indians in Oklahoma.
