- Description:
- Mrs. Maggie M. James inquired about the eligibility requirements at the Indian Hospital at Talihina. Congressman Carl Albert forwarded her inquiry to the Public Health Service, which explained that health care is provided to specific individuals based on their Indian blood degree. A restricted Indian woman married to a non-Indian or non-restricted Indian is eligible for free health services if her husband cannot provide them and there are no available State or county hospitals. Congressman Albert assured Mrs. James of his interest in her welfare and promised to provide further information after receiving a report from the Department.
