- Description:
- Mr. Gilbert W. Daney, an attorney from Atoka, Oklahoma, wrote to Honorable Carl Albert, M.C. requesting his assistance in appointing a new chief for the Choctaw people in Oklahoma. He explained that the current chief, W.A. Durant, was unable to fulfill his duties due to age and health reasons. Daney asked Albert to keep the matter in mind and be prepared to help when the time was right. Albert acknowledged the letter and assured Daney that he would do what he could when the opportunity arose.
