- Congressman Carl Albert announced his plans to seek the enactment of three bills in the field of Indian affairs in the next Congress. The first bill aims to extend restrictions on members of the Five Civilized Tribes, the second bill will reopen the right to file claims before the Indian Claims Commission, and the third bill is focused on promoting the rehabilitation of members of the Five Civilized Tribes and other Indians in eastern Oklahoma. Albert emphasized the urgency of passing the first bill before the restrictions expire in April 1956 to prevent confusion and hardships for Oklahoma Indians.
