![["The District 17 Council of the Navajo Tribe of Indians passed a resolution in response to Senator Barry Goldwater's position on the Navajo-Hopi land dispute. They declared his position as unfair and unjust, stating that the Navajo families residing in the disputed area were authorized to occupy the land for grazing and residential purposes. They also refuted Goldwater's claim that there was plenty of spare land on the Navajo Reservation, stating that all available land had already been allocated for grazing and other uses.
