![["Reuben K. Sparks wrote to the Indian Agency at Muskogee seeking information about the heirs of Sam Belew, an enrolled Cherokee Indian who passed away before 1920. The Indian Agency did not have any record of Sam Belew, but there was a Sam Ballou on the rolls, who was deceased. Sparks was informed that further information would be provided once available. She contacted Congressman Page Belcher for assistance, who forwarded her inquiry to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The Bureau advised her to contact their Area Director in Muskogee, Oklahoma for further information as her great grandfather's name does not appear on the approved roll of the Cherokee Nation.
