They are seeking funding and support from Senator Dewey Bartlett for the project. Additionally, the Creek Nation has received a $1 million appropriation to operate the Okemah hospital and plans to hire staff personnel. There is also a discussion about giving Indian tribes increased legal powers and jurisdiction over non-Indian people and property within reservation boundaries.
