The program, originally known as 1 to 1 Volunteer Services, was created in 1970 and has since become affiliated with the national Big Brothers of America and Big Sisters International programs. Youth in the program are typically ages 8-16 and may come from one-parent homes or face other challenges. Adults interested in volunteering must go through a screening process and commit to spending at least 3 hours a week with their matched youth.
