![["The Choctaw Termination Act, passed in 1959, authorized the Secretary of the Interior to sell Choctaw tribal lands and mineral rights. The Act also allowed for the conveyance of lands to a trustee designated by the tribe and for the sale of lands acquired for tribal use. It provided rights for individual members of the tribe to purchase lands they occupied and authorized the Secretary to execute necessary instruments to carry out the provisions of the Act. Additionally, the Act specified that existing leases, permits, and contracts would not be affected and outlined procedures for setting off debts against funds owed to individuals or the tribe.
