![["The Menominee Restoration Act extends federal recognition to the Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin and repeals the Termination Act of 1954. It establishes a procedure for the election and authority of the Menominee Restoration Committee and authorizes the Committee to bring current the tribal roles closed by the termination act. The Act also allows for the conduct of elections among tribe members on tribal constitution and bylaws, with certain provisions for adoption and election of a governing body. The Act provides for the negotiation of tribal assumption of corporation assets and exempts transferred assets from taxation. It also addresses the management of tribal assets, hunting and fishing regulations, and federal financial assistance to local public schools for Menominee enrollees. The rally was held in protest of a supervised fight between Indian and white students at the Elgin school.
