Helen Gahagan Douglas forwarded the letter to the War Department for investigation and assured Mr. Eichmann of her concern and assistance. The War Department liaison officer, Col. Wm. F. Pearson, responded to Mrs. Douglas, stating that the soldier was receiving mail regularly and that delays were due to transportation problems.
