![["John William Tallbear, a member of the Cheyenne-Arapaho tribes living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, wrote a letter to Senator Fred R. Harris seeking assistance in obtaining funds for a college education. Senator Harris contacted the Bureau of Indian Affairs on Tallbear's behalf, and they suggested he speak with the Bureau Scholarships Officer in Albuquerque for assistance. The Bureau also provided information about funds awarded to the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes for land taken from them, which has been distributed according to special legislation.
